May 2009 - The Transport, Public Works and Water Management Inspectorate has issued an Approval for Test Flight Certificate to Geocopter B.V. to perform test flights with a new Unmanned Aircraft System. The test flights will show that the rotorcraft (the GC-201) meets all the requirements of Air Worthiness.
The rotorcraft can be used for specialized airborne data collection. The new twin engine helicopter has a total weight of over 25 kgs and therefore has to meet many of the requirements of a manned helicopter. Geocopter B.V. is the first company in Europe to fly with this type of aircraft in civil airspace.
